JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Craighead County inmate who walked away from cleaning a dirty bridge is back in custody.

Jonesboro police say Gage Lee Glenn, 21, was removing sand from the Main Street Bridge on March 12 when he walked away from his work detail.

A news release from police said Glenn was arrested the next day during a traffic stop at the intersection of Caraway Road and Phillips Drive.

A Jonesboro Street Department worker said while his back was turned Glenn dropped his shovel and jumped over the bridge.

Glenn ran to the parking lot of Dollar General, 5900 E. Johnson, and got into a tan Chevy Trailblazer, according to the incident report.

Glenn was in jail on a charge of theft less than $1,000 when he escaped. He was additionally charged with third-degree escape as a result of the latest incident.
