A-State Women advance to Sun Belt Championship Game

NEW ORLEANS, LA (KAIT) - The Arkansas State Women's Basketball team survived a scare in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday afternoon, edging out Louisiana-Lafayette 63-61 to advance to the championship game.

Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Drea Gamble was held at bay but Jasmine Hunt stepped up with 15 points and 9 rebounds to help propel the Red Wolves to the victory.

A-State made a free throw to extend their lead to 63-61 with 9 seconds left on the clock, a last second three pointer for the win by the Ragin' Cajuns was off the mark and time expired, sending the Red Wolves to the championship game.

Arkansas State will face off with regular season champion UALR on Saturday night at 7:00 pm. The two teams split their regular season meetings.
