Superheroes raise money for Arkansas Children's Hospital

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

Superheroes from across Region 8 braved the rain to help raise money for Arkansas Children's Hospital.

The Greene County chapter of Circle of Friends sponsored the inaugural Superhero Flash Dash 5K Saturday morning in Paragould.

Walkers and runners dressed up in their favorite superhero costumes to support the cause.

Jillian Hastings, Arkansas Children's Hospital, said there is a very important reason they chose the superhero theme.

“We always reiterate to our patients that no matter their condition that they are superheroes because they constantly fight against health issues and overcome them,” Hastings said.

Hastings said the event has received so much support, and she thinks that is a testament to how many people and their families are touched by Arkansas Children's Hospital.

More than 60 runners registered. The event raised nearly $7,500.

Circle of Friends plans to make it an annual event to continue its support of Arkansas Children's Hospital.
