Jonesboro Parks fundraiser pulls in money for Miracle League

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The rain kept some away from the Jonesboro Parks and Recreation Department's fire truck pull fundraiser but not the "Meat and Greeks."

They may have been the only team to show up Saturday, but the guys gave it their all for the Miracle League of Jonesboro.

The group pulled the fire truck 100 feet in less than 24 seconds three consecutive times.

The "Meat and Greeks" walked away with a trophy, while the Miracle League left with $135.

"It's a good cause and we've got a bunch of good guys," said Frank Marrs, the team leader. "Half are Sigma Chi, which they're great guys but they don't weigh a lot. The other part of the team is the True Warriors Bike Club. They're the meat of the team. That's why we're 'Meat and Greek.'"

The Miracle League's next event is the Weiner Pig Roast April 4 at 6 p.m. at the Weiner High School gym. For tickets, contact the Jonesboro Parks Department or the Miracle League.
