Approved road projects in northeast Arkansas announced

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - New roadwork around northeast Arkansas has been approved through the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.

Information received Monday from AHTD listed several areas where work is approved in Izard, Jackson, Poinsett, St. Francis and White County.

The following projects should begin in 2 to 4 weeks, weather pending:

Izard County:

Resurface 1.9 miles of streets in the city of Horseshoe Bend, Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville, Arkansas was awarded the contract at $233,417.81

Jackson County:

Resurface 1.4 miles and stripe 1.9 miles of County Road 311, Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville, Arkansas was awarded the contract at $143,265.58

Poinsett County:

Resurface 1.4 miles of streets in the city of Marked Tree, Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville, Arkansas was awarded the contract at $237,186.68

St. Francis County:

Construct an Interstate 40 eastbound and westbound bridge spanning Shell Lake, east of Forrest City (mm 260), James Construction Group, LLC of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was awarded the contract at $33,184,732.08

Construct an Interstate 40 eastbound and westbound bridge spanning Blackfish Lake, east of Forrest City (mile marker 262), James Construction Group, LLC of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was awarded the contract at $26,928,393.68

White County:

Resurface 1.8 miles of streets in the cities of Beebe and Higginson, Rogers Group, Inc. of Nashville, Tennessee was awarded the contract at $251,231.27
