Kennett High School Student Charged with On-Campus Rape of Fellow Student

KENNETT, MO - A 17-year-old Kennett High School student is charged with "forcible sodomy" in connection with an incident that occured last week on the KHS campus.

According to information released this morning by the Kennett Police Department, Mario Adaway is being held on $25,000 bond as the result of an incident that occured last Wednesday, January 20, when a 16-year-old student notified the school's principal that she had been raped.  According to a police report, "Investigation concluded that after the fourth hour bell rang, the 17-year-old approached the 16-year-old behind a curtain on the choir stage and began sexually assaulting her."

The victim was later examined by a nurse at the SeMo Network Against Sexual Violence in Kennett.  Evidence was then submitted to the SeMo Crime Lab in Cape Girardeau for analysis.
