Lawrence County hosts hospitality training

WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

Businesses in Lawrence County received a lesson on good manners.

On Wednesday the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce hosted Welcome to Arkansas Hospitality Training at The Venue in Walnut Ridge.

Associates from a range of industries attended including banks, grocery stores, hospitals, and city officials.

Fran Cavenaugh, president of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, said the skills taught at the seminar are directly related to improving visitors' impressions of the community.

“We have so many opportunities for tourism in Lawrence County,” Cavenaugh said. “So we are learning how to tell someone when they come and ask, 'What is there to do in Lawrence County? What is there to do in Walnut Ridge or Hoxie?' Instead of just saying 'Oh there's nothing, you've got to go on down the road,' we are able to say this is what we have here.”

Topics included body language, giving directions, and what attractions Lawrence County has to offer.

The chamber hopes events like this will help increase tourism along with encouraging visitors to return.
