FAYETTEVILLE, AR (AP) - Arkansas coach Bret Bielema says wide receiver Kendrick Edwards has been removed from the football program and is free to seek a transfer to another school.
The 6-foot-6, 202-pound Edwards played in 11 games last season as a freshman and had four catches for 70 yards and a touchdown. He was expected to be one of Arkansas' top downfield offensive options in the fall.
Bielema said before spring practice that Edwards had been removed from the program for a week for rules violations. He now says that suspension has been extended throughout the spring, and Edwards "has been given permission to talk to other schools."
Bielema says the Edwards' issues "are not talent-based, they're performance-based off the field."
The Razorbacks conclude spring practice with the Red-White game on April 25.
