Look out for sanitation workers

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Craighead County sanitation workers ask drivers to slow down and pay attention.

Dennis Searcy, a driver with Dedman's Sanitation, said working on county roads and highways can be scary for him and other workers.

He said one of the most dangerous roads is Highway 141 in Jonesboro.

“Sometimes you get in a position and you have to think fast and figure out how to get off the road and get over out of the way,” said Searcy. “Sometimes people won't give you the right-of-way.”

Searcy said he has seen drivers take dangerous measures to get around them.

"Passing over a double yellow line, cutting us off, stuff of that nature," said Searcy. "You have to be vigilant about what's going on around you.”

Searcy asks drivers to be patient when they come up on a sanitation truck.
