JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 hospital is working to provide community members with all the information they need to combat diabetes.
A diabetes support group will begin meeting at NEA Baptist Clinic once a month.
The meetings will include guest speakers who will address topics relevant to diabetic patients.
On Thursday, a cooking class took place explaining new ingredients for common dishes.
Diabetes Educator Amber Toombs said they want to make sure everyone has the facts they need to lead a better quality of life.
"When you wake up every day you have to make choices in what you do that day," Toombs said. "Whether that's am I going to check my blood sugar, what am I going to eat for breakfast; all day long these choices we make affect diabetes. So, diabetes needs a lot of support."
The support group will meet during the group hour. It is free and open to the public.
