JONESBORO, AR (ASU) – The Arkansas State women's basketball team will travel to Middle Tennessee in the second of round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m. at the Murphy Center.
A-State advanced to the second with a 61-49 victory over Western Michigan on Wednesday, giving their first Red Wolves their first victory in the postseason tournament since 2007. Middle Tennessee earned a 69-58 victory over Ball State Thursday in Murfreesboro, Tenn., at the Murphy Center.
Middle Tennessee has an overall record of 22-9 and finished second in the Conference USA standings with a 14-4 mark. The Blue Raiders fell in the semifinals of the CUSA conference tournament to Southern Miss 65-53.
The Red Wolves and Blue Raiders were Sun Belt Conference members from 2001-2013 with Middle Tennessee holding an 18-6 edge in the series. A-State has captured five wins in Jonesboro against Middle Tennessee and has one neutral court win. This will be the second time that the teams have met outside of a SBC regular season or conference setting.

WNIT first-round action concludes Friday, March 20. Second-round games begin March 21-24, round three March 25-27, quarterfinals March 28-30, and semifinals April 1-2.
The championship game will be played Saturday, April 4 and will be televised live and in HD on CBS Sports Network at 3 p.m. ET.
