4 year old killed in SUV crash, 1 injured

DONIPHAN, MO (KAIT) -

A 4-year-old girl was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Ripley County.

Alyssa Mitchell of Naylor died at the scene of the crash Wednesday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on Route H, 10 miles southeast of Doniphan. Mitchell was the passenger of Daniel Mitchell, also of Naylor.

According to the crash report, the SUV he was driving went off the road through a water-filled ditch and overturned.

Alyssa Mitchell was thrown from the vehicle. Troopers state she was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.

Daniel Mitchell received moderate injuries and was taken to a Poplar Bluff hospital. It's not known whether or not he was wearing a seat belt.
