JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Several people in Region 8 spent their Friday afternoon supporting a new resource center founded by Marc Despain's family.
Tana Despain, Marc's mother, started a resource and information center for victims of violent crimes called Marc's Place.
Marc was murdered in 2011. His wife, father-in-law and two others were arrested and sentenced in the case.
Now, his family hopes to provide the necessary support to those who need it.
"I feel like it's a very big need because when Marc was murdered we didn't have any kind of support except Cassie Boles, which was an absolute Godsend," Tana said. "She is the victim witness coordinator at the prosecutor's office, but as far as additional outside help, we did not know of anything like this."
Tana hopes to guide victims to counseling, information, transportation and support as they navigate the legal system.
