WEST MEMPHIS -- A West Memphis alderman wanted for rape turned himself in today.  Herman Coleman, 60, is  accused of forcing himself on a woman from whom he was planning to buy a house. He turned himself in late Tuesday afternoon and was taken to the Crittenden County jail. .

"We are all shocked. He is a minister, a city councilman. He owns a business here, an insurance agency, and the entire community is shocked at these allegations," said Robert Paudert, West Memphis Chief of Police.

Coleman's bond is set at $50,000.
