PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - The Paragould Police Department is entering its 20th year of teaching concealed carry classes.
A handful of people attended a class Saturday morning.
Captain Greg Trout said the students will spend about four to five hours in a class environment and then spend time on the shooting range.
Trout said when carrying a gun, education is vital.
"It's extremely important," Trout said. "Not only the fire arm safety rules themselves but you need information about what they law says you can do and what you can't do. You need to know the information about consequences in case you make a mistake."
Captain Trout said the police department hopes to teach a concealed carry class once a month until at least October.
