IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - An Izard County man is out on bond after he attempted to harm sheriff's deputies with a weapon and was shot.
Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence stated Monday in a news release that Timothy Copes, 34, of Oxford was arrested March 17 and charged with 3 counts of attempted murder and second degree battery.
Officers were called to 2 domestic violence incidents involving Copes on March 15. Lawrence states Copes could not be found during the first call.
However, during the second response by officers, Copes was found armed with a machete-type weapon. He attempted to harm deputies with that weapon, according to Lawrence.
Copes was "tazed" several times to no avail before being shot in the abdomen. He was flown to a Jonesboro hospital, treated and then arrested upon release.
Copes posted a bond of $25,000 and was released with a court date of April 21.
Christina Ann Copes, wife of Copes, was also arrested during the second call for interfering with governmental operations.
She posted bond of $810 and was given a court date of April 9.
