BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - What was once a popular restaurant in Batesville has been torn down.
Josie's, situated along the White River in Batesville, is a pile of rubble right now. But, plans are in place to rebuild it bigger and better than before.
The restaurant had been closed since December after a fire spread through the rafters and ceiling.
Tuesday night, the Batesville City Council approved to modify and extend their lease with Josie's owner Steve Carpenter.
All council members in attendance approved the resolution that stated in order for Carpenter to rebuild and re-invest in the structure, it was necessary to modify and extend the current lease.
Plans for the new Josie's include accommodations for larger private parties and maximum seating in the restaurant for up to 300 people.
