2nd ministry distances itself from roofing company

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

After a Region 8 News story aired Tuesday night about a woman who was upset with the advertisement of a local business, the owner of the business changed his advertisement in the local paper. However, a local ministry said it is not affiliated with the business.

Tuesday, Terry Smith placed multiple ads in the classified section of the Wednesday edition of the Jonesboro Sun. One ad read “Jump Start Ministries Concrete.” Another ad read “Jump Start Ministries Roofing & Remodeling COMPANY, 10 christian man crew.”

Region 8 News was contacted by Danny Whitmire, who said his ministry is not affiliated with Smith or his company. When Region 8 News called the ministry, Whitmire answered. He said he contacted Deputy Prosecutor Ryan Cooper about the advertisement.

Jump Start Ministries is based out of Walnut Ridge and according to Whitmire, he does not know Terry Smith.

Smith told Region 8 News over the phone that he would change his advertisement again. Smith's ad had read “John 3:16” before he changed it to “Jump Start Ministries” Wednesday.
