PARAGOULD-- A Region 8 boy makes his claim to fame as the creator of a new soft drink label.

A Greene County Tech 8th grader, Kasey Kellums, designed the new label for "Vanilla Doc," a soda produced by the Paragould 7-UP, RC plant.

"I never really thought I'd get in the newspaper or be on the news for it. I was just doing what my dad asked me to," Kasey says.

Kasey's dad and RC's General Manager of Sales David Kellums says, "He asked me what it needed to look like or what we were looking for. I said something new age, something that the kids will like and you will like too."

"I believe that's the greatest drink ever made. I think it will replace my Dr. Pepper at home," Kasy's classmate says.

"I think he might be a millionare one day. I'm gonna be his secretary and take 10 percent," his classmate says.

Kasey's classmates may think the label he created is cool, but the drink will also be included in the school's vending machines.

"I kinda thought if they sold it at my school, people would see it and think it was mine," Kasey says.

"It's pretty exciting, you know, everytime you pick one up you know your son had something to do with it," David Kellums says.
