JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin is asking for an additional $500,000 to fix roads that were affected by the wintry precipitation this year.
A news release from the City of Jonesboro said the finance committee will consider Mayor Perrin's request on Tuesday.
If approved, the money would come from the street fund reserves.
The city had originally budgeted about $500,000 from the capital improvement fund to overlay and add sealcoating to streets around town.
Director of Communications for the City of Jonesboro Fitz Gisler said the revised plan will significantly increase the number of streets that get attention.
Mayor Perrin said they created the reserve in the street fund because they can't predict the weather and that they have to take care of the roads if and when they get damaged.
