JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The flu season in Arkansas has come in waves and lead to many deaths this year .
According to Brian Oholendt at Gibson Pharmacy we still had the worst of flu season around September through January, but they've seen a few spikes since then.
"About two weeks ago there seemed to be like a little spike, or at least that we were filling for anyway. Some kids and adults, and then it's kind of died back off a little bit," Oholendt said.
According to the Arkansas Department of Health, there have been 55 deaths from the flu since September 28th with 10 of those deaths occurring within the past two weeks.
Oholendt said the past two years it seems more like the flu season has turned into a whole year event and encourages that people do preventive things, like keeping their hands washed thoroughly, year round.
Oholendt also said it isn't too late to get your flu shot either and he encourages people to go out to get it if they haven't yet.
