Expo combines health and education to help Region 8 women

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The 2015 Women's Expo combined shopping with health and education this weekend in Jonesboro.

The event was held at the Southwest Church of Christ and women were able to get their blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose checked.

Other health screenings offered were electrocardiograms, or EKG's, a body mass index and even spinal tension.

Daniel Reed helped organized the event and said this was a chance for Region 8 women to take some time out for themselves.

“So many times women put their own health on the backburner and they care for everybody else around them,” Reed said. “This is a good opportunity for women to come out, take their health into their own hands and be proactive about it.”

Health screenings will last from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday.
