JONESBORO, AR - A former member of the Jonesboro City Council who moved to Marion nearly two years ago will return to his hometown as the city's new grants coordinator.

Paul Copeland resigned his position as alderman in 2003, when he moved to Marion to accept a job in the education sector.  Copeland previously worked with the Jonesboro March of Dimes office, and also in a marketing position with the Arkansas State University athletic department.  He holds a B.S. from Kansas State University, and M.B.A. from Bellevue University and a Ph. D. from Capella University.

Copeland was a member of the City Council's audit/grants committee when he served as a Jonesboro alderman.  "I am very excited about moving back home and working for the continued progress of Jonesboro," Copeland said.

Copeland will begin his new duties with the city next week.  He replaces Jim McKinnon, who recently submitted his resignation to Mayor Doug Forman in order to accept a position in Little Rock.
