WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) -

A man accused of raping a 7-year-old child told investigators he did not remember the assault because of “demons.”

Investigators with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office arrested Krystopher Johnson, 18, of Strawberry on a charge of rape.

A witness told investigators they had seen Johnson “having contact with the victim in various stages of undress,” according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

When detectives initially interviewed Johnson, he reportedly said he did not remember the incident and “claimed his memory loss was caused by a demon.”

Johnson then told investigators that when the witness entered the room he was partially clothed and did have inappropriate contact with the child, the report said.

He is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond.
