TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 school district is working to keep up with growth through multiple expansion projects.
Trumann School District was approved to build the new Cedar Park Elementary School last year. The new school building will be built next to the current structure on the old baseball field.
Drawings and renderings of the elementary school are still being designed, but it created a new problem involving where to play softball and baseball.
Myra Graham, Trumann School District Superintendent, said a new complex just made sense.
Unfortunately, all of the bad weather has pushed back the completion date. She said they are thankful the city of Trumann has allowed the school to use city fields as construction continues.
Graham said once it is complete it will be a great addition.
"Programs are needing more space as well," Graham said. "We have that beautiful brand new high school that was completed in '09. So this is just another phase of updating and getting things right for our Trumann kids."
The complex also includes a new practice field for the Trumann Marching Band.
Graham said they plan to have the fields ready to play ball on April 14th.
The next project on the list for Trumann is the Cedar Park Elementary School. Graham is working with architects right now and construction is planned for the fall.
