JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police continue their investigation into an early morning shooting Friday where a woman was reportedly shot in the hand.
According to the incident report from JPD, an officer was called to the 2500-block of Middlefield Drive just after midnight Friday in regards to a call of shots fired.
A witness, his wife and his wife's cousin were in a driveway when the incident occurred. He reportedly told police he saw a small white passenger car going east on Meador Road.
He said the car was at the intersection of Meador and Middlefield when he heard what he believed to be 5 or 6 gunshots coming from the vehicle. The witness told police he could even see "mud flying up from the ground from bullets striking the ground."
The car left the scene heading continuing east on Meador, the witness told police.
The cousin of the witness told police she thought it was fireworks exploding until "she felt a sharp pain in between her fingers."
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene by police to check on the woman who later refused treatment.
An investigating officer found 4 shell casings in the road just east of the intersection. Two bullet impacts were also found by the officer in the ditch in front of the home.
The witness gave police a statement on who might have been responsible for the shooting after speaking with some friends.
However, no arrests have been made at this time and the case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division of the Jonesboro Police Department.
