JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Region 8 News and Jonesboro's E911 received numerous calls Thursday about sirens not sounding during normal test times.
E911 Director Jeff Presley said that's because he didn't set them off.
He said he didn't test the sirens because of the impending weather that was expected that night, but they are all operational.
Jonesboro E911 runs compliance tests through its system every week, but it's not always an audible alarm to the public.
If it was, Presley said his phone would ring off the hook with calls from concerned schools and businesses.
The department is set to do its yearly maintenance in about a month.
This is what they do about every two years to replace backup batteries just to be on the safe side.
