Search warrant leads to 2 arrests

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) -

Two men face multiple theft and drug charges following a search of their Jackson County home.

On Friday, April 10, sheriff's investigators executed a search warrant on a home in the 1400-block of Dill Street in Newport.

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, detectives had received information that stolen property was being kept at the home.

During the search, investigators found “numerous items of stolen goods, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia,” the report said.

Deputies arrested Jeremy Curtis Cooper and John Michael Sullins.

Cooper is charged with theft by receiving and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use, both felonies.

Sullins is charged with felony theft by receiving and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of a drug paraphernalia with intent to use.

Both were expected to appear in district court on Monday.
