45 law enforcement officers graduate from BRTC

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

Region 8 has 45 new law enforcement officers.

Black River Technical College graduated it's A class of 2015 Friday afternoon.

The graduates already have jobs at law enforcement agencies all over Region 8 including Jonesboro, Marked Tree, Pocahontas, and Caraway.

Michael Matlock, voted class speaker, said in his speech that choosing this profession wasn't a decision, it was a calling.

“We answered this call because we are men and women of honor,” Matlock said. “We answered this call because anything we chose prior in our lives to do, lead us back to this very moment today.”

Matlock also thanked all of the families for their support.

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge was the guest speaker at the ceremony.

She commended the men and women for choosing to serve their communities.

Considering that the University of Central Arkansas mascot is a bear, it was only natural that one should be found less than a mile from campus.
