BAY, AR (KAIT) - Law enforcement agencies said goodbye to one of their own Saturday.
The Bay Police Department held a memorial service for its K9 officer Vox at the Bay High School Gym.
Vox died Thursday, April 9th, 2015, after escaping from his kennel.
The department considered Vox a full-time officer just like the patrolmen. Vox was with the Bay Police Department for 7 years.
Paul Keith, chief of police, read Vox's obituary and showed a slide show remembering Vox's time on the force.
Neighboring police departments attended and even brought their own K9 officers to the service out of respect.
Keith thanked the public for their help in searching for Vox and the support they've received since his passing. He especially thanked Vox's handler.
"For all of the extra time, hard work that you put forth in making Vox a part of your family," Keith said. "The many hours you spent training to bond with him, to make him a valuable partner to our department."
The department presented the colors to Vox's handler Patrolman Keith Milam and his family.
Keith said he hopes the worst of this situation is behind them but thought it was a great turn out and ceremony to say goodbye to Vox.
