Police: School bus ran red light causing collision

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A car and a Jonesboro Public Schools bus collided at the intersection of Johnson Avenue and Main Street Thursday morning.

Jonesboro police tell Region 8 News the bus ran a red light causing the collision. The bus was stopped at the red light then started driving north on Main Street while the light was still red. The car, who had the right of way, then collided with the bus.

No problems were reported with the bus and neither of the drivers were distracted, according to the crash report.

Two Pocahontas residents in the car were taken to a Jonesboro hospital for cuts and bruises.

One child, a bus driver and a bus driver's assistant were on the bus at the time of the crash. None of them were injured.

Bus driver, Chris Henson, was cited for hazardous driving according to police.
