JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Four of Jonesboro's high school baseball teams gathered together at Tomlinson Stadium on the Arkansas State campus for the annual Hardball Summit.
Game one featured Valley View taking on Westside to begin the action at the summit. Valley View jumped out to an early lead with a big first inning and never looked back to go on to win 13-1.
The Blazers stepped on the gas pedal with a 6 run first inning and the Warriors could only push across one run.
In the second game of the night, Jonesboro battled Nettleton in a powerful non-conference fight. The game was a pitchers dual as the Hurricane managed just one run in the 4th to break the tie. Jonesboro went on to win the game 1-0.
The Raiders gave a scare to the Hurricane victory in the bottom half of the final frame when the bases were loaded and two out. A Raider line-out to second base finished off the game and capped off a great battle by both teams.
All four teams now turn their attention to the home stretch as the postseason comes into sight. The Hardball Summit serves as an annual tune-up for the teams in Jonesboro.
