WEST MEMPHIS, AR (KAIT) -
Bret Bielema spoke at West Memphis' Southland Gaming and Racing as part of the Memphis East Arkansas Razorback Club.
He started by addressing the spring football game and the support Arkansas received from the 41,220 people that attended the game. "You know it was great. I had a feeling we would get a good crowd. It was a sunny day. It was beautiful. A lot of obvious interest in the Razorbacks. A couple of our new guys were pretty shocked taken back by that but it's great to have that support. I'll tell you what for some of our newer players like for instance Will Gragg who's playing in his first game admitted he got rattled by the crowd and having that many people. Those guys coming out of high school a lot of times that's the biggest crowd they've ever played in front of. And it's a good lead in to the fall," Bielema said.
The event featured a really big turnout of its own as fans enjoyed good food and made bids for Razorback memorabilia.
Bielema also spoke about the improvements that his quarterback Brandon Allen continues to make.
"You know B.A. is a guy that has gotten better every year that we've been here. He's a fifth year quarterback. I expect him to be one of the best in the SEC. Hopefully one of the best in the country."
Bielema says last year's 7-6 season was just a building block and looks for more wins this season.
