JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - An important deadline is nearing for parents in Arkansas. School choice applications are due Friday, May 1st.
Freedom of School Choice Applications allow for kids to attend school outside of the district they live in.
Bryan Russell, Valley View Superintendent, said this gives parents an opportunity to take control of their child's education.
"We in Craighead County schools feel like, you know, we want children to go to the school that their parents feel they'll do best in and what's best for that family," Russell said. "And like I said, there is an awful lot, a variety of reasons."
Applications can be found at arkansased.gov or you can contact the school district directly.
