Golf tournament held to raise funds for Portfest

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) -

People were teeing off on the Golf Course at the Newport Country Club Friday.

The Portfest Two Person Scramble was held to support this year's 34th annual Portfest.

Around 25 teams came out to have some fun and help raise funds for the event.

“It's fantastic,” golfer Deon Hill of Hernando, MO said. “I mean, playing golf's a lot of fun and I'm blessed to be able to do that and to be able to help a community event like this. It's kind of like icing on a cake and we're just having a great time and really thankful to be part of this event.”

If you missed Saturday's tournament, there is still a chance for you to show your support for Portfest.

A 5k walk and run will be held May 16, along with a color run afterwards for the kids.

Portfest will be on June 5 and 6.
