Company encourages safety for the entire family

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) -

For many industries, safety is a priority, but a business in Paragould decided to make it a family affair.

GRT Rubber Technologies in Paragould sponsored a Safety Day on Saturday.

Employees and their families were invited to learn about all different aspects of staying safe.

The Greene County Sheriff's Department, Paragould Police Department and Fire Department joined a number of first responders to assist in emergency demonstrations.

Hite Horner organized the event and said as long as everyone leaves learning 1 thing, he's happy.

“Something as minor as putting on a little sunscreen or electric safety,” Horner said. “It encourages them all to come out, and if we don't teach the kids but stay away from a wasper, then we've taught them something.”

Each GRT department sponsored a booth and focused on different safety concerns.

The Greene County Rescue Squad even extracted Horner from a car.

Horner said the demonstrations are all about showing the community there are qualified people always ready to help.
