JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Sunshine and weekends mean the farmers market is back in business.
Saturday was opening day for the ASU Regional Farmers Market in Jonesboro.
Forty Vendors from all over Region 8 came together to sell local goods.
Bob Young, market manager, said he believes the market does well because the community sees the benefits of shopping local.
"Everything is grown locally or produced locally," Young said. "People, really, they know that it's healthier for them, and so they come out and I think that is 1 thing. They also want to support the local economy."
The ASU Regional Farmers Market is open every Saturday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., until October. In June the market will also open on Tuesdays.
Vendors offer a variety of products including fresh flowers, meat, vegetables, fruits, and kettle corn.
