JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Johnna and Kaylee Hardin may be young, but they have already established themselves as excellent writers.

The two Jonesboro girls were among the winners in this year's AETN PBS KIDS Writers Contest.

Johnna's story “The Toothfairy's Day Off,” took home third place honors in the second grade division; while third grader Kaylee came in second in her division with her story “The Magical Peppermint.”

Entries were judged on originality, creative expression, storytelling and integration of text and illustrations.

AETN received more than 150 entries from students across Arkansas for this year's contest. All 12 winning stories, including Johnna and Kaylee's, can be viewed by clicking here.

All first place winners have been entered in the national PBS KIDS Writers Contest. National winners will be announced this summer.

The 12 winners, three from each grade, received a prize pack.
