WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - A Walnut Ridge police officer made a drug arrest after stopping a vehicle in a parking lot.
Capt. Bubba Blackwood, drug interdiction officer for Walnut Ridge, stated he stopped a 2006 Cadillac on May 1 just after midnight in the Walmart parking lot on Highway 412 West. The stop was for defective equipment.
Blackwood made contact with the driver, Alicia Bippus, and asked her for her driver's license. Bippus told Blackwood she did not have it.
A background check on Bippus showed that she had a suspended license and was wanted out of Greene County.
Both the driver and passenger were very nervous during the stop, according to Blackwood.
A K-9 officer arrived on scene and Blackwood asked the officer to run his dog on the exterior of the car because of the suspects' demeanor. The police dog alerted to the driver's side door.
Blackwood said a search was done and "several hydrocodone pills" were found in the purse of Bippus in a small tin container.
Bippus was arrested for possession of Schedule II narcotic without a prescription and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
Blackwood said the passenger was not charged and was released.
