LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Cotton Plant Police Department will have three more cars after receiving a little help from its counterpart in Little Rock.

The Little Rock Police Department donated three used Crown Victorias to the small town in eastern Arkansas after Cotton Plant Mayor Cleodis Smith contacted Little Rock officials.

Over the last few months, the five police officers in Cotton Plant had use of only one car, a 1991 Chevy Lumina, that had no backseat.  Many of the officers were either forced to use their own vehicles to conduct police duties or patrol the streets of the small Woodruff County town on foot.  Cotton Plant police chief Archie Roark said fighting crime became a problem with virtually no reliable transportation.  The mayor said Little Rock's donation is "a God send."
