JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Paragould OB-GYN has been sentenced to 36 months in prison after investigators say he took nude photographs of female patients without their knowledge.

On Wednesday morning Dr. Paul Becton, 69, pleaded guilty in Greene County Circuit Court to charges of video voyeurism.

Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey sentenced Becton to 36 months in the Arkansas Department of Correction.

Following his release from prison, Becton will be required to register as a sex offender and fulfill all requirements under the Sex Offender Registration Act.

Scott Ellington, district prosecuting attorney for the Second Judicial District, said the victims approved of Becton's sentence in order to avoid having to share their stories in open court.

"Dr. Becton will never practice medicine again and will be under law enforcement supervision as a registered sex offender for the rest of his life," Ellington said.

Becton was accused of taking nude photos of clients without their knowledge or consent. According to court documents one of the victims was 14 years old.

Becton practiced obstetrics and gynecological services in Arkansas for 30 years before his arrest last April at a motel in Newport.
