MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Humanitarian organizations are using FedEx to fly $15 million worth of medicine and other emergency supplies to earthquake victims in Nepal.

Andrew MacCalla, director of International Programs and Emergency Response for Direct Relief, says the medical relief nonprofit is sending more than 118,000 pounds of medical and surgical supplies and more than 6 million doses of medicine on a FedEx flight leaving Friday night from Memphis International Airport.

MacCalla says the plane will land in Dubai, and FedEx will then send the supplies to Nepal's capital of Kathmandu in two separate flights. MacCalla says FedEx is flying the supplies to Nepal for free.

Recipients of supplies include six hospitals, five emergency medical teams and the Ministry of Health and Population.

Other groups also are sending supplies via the FedEx flights.
