JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A woman is charged with child endangerment after police say she left her children home alone, locked outside of their house.
Dorletha Brinkley, 31, of Jonesboro is charged with three counts of first degree child endangerment.
According to the initial incident report, police were called to a home on Warner Street shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday to check on the welfare of three young children.
When officers arrived they found the children, ranging in age from 3 to 6, had reportedly been left outside of their home for two hours. All of the doors to the home were locked.
According to court documents, "officers tried every means available to them to contact Brinkley for over an hour."
Finally officer called the Department of Human Services and a caseworker arrived at the scene and took the children.
By 7:30 p.m., Brinkley arrived home and said she had left the children with a neighbor.
The neighbor, however, told police she was "never asked to watch the children nor was she even aware Brinkley was gone," the affidavit said.
On Friday Brinkley appeared before a Craighead County district court judge who found probable cause to charge her.
