JONESBORO, AR - After approximately two years of construction, the new Arkansas 91 overpass over U.S. 63 just west of Jonesboro opened to traffic this morning.

There was  no official ceremony, but project manager John Broadway of Cameron Construction of Jonesboro said officials with the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department may plan a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony later.

The overpass is expected to greatly improve the flow of traffic on Highway 91, especially during morning and afternoon hours when classes open and dismiss at the nearby Westside schools.  "No traffic signal after today, so the traffic on U.S. 63 will flow a lot more smoothly and rapidly.  Also, the traffic going to and from Jonesboro on 63-B and back to Westside High School on Highway 91 will make for a lot easier operations going in and out of there," said Broadway.
