Investigation into Saturday morning burglary

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police are investigating a burglary that happened over the weekend in Jonesboro.

It happened at an apartment on Belt Street early Saturday morning.

Jonesboro Police were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. in reference to a home invasion.

The homeowner said two men entered the apartment and beat up her stepfather while she was asleep in the bedroom.

The stepfather said he was sitting on the couch, watching television, when two unknown men entered the apartment and demanded to know where his money was.

The victim said one of the suspects grabbed him by the head and started to punch him in the ribs.

One of the suspects then took his wallet out of his pocket.

According to the police report, the wallet had $400 in cash, his social security card and his driver's license in it.

The man also said they took his phone and lighter that were sitting on the coffee table.

The suspects then shoved him into the laundry room and left.

Police did not have any suspects named at the time the report was filed.
