JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Fighting hunger can be as simple as walking to your mail box.
Over the weekend the Stamp Out Hunger campaign started. It allows residents to leave non-perishable food items at their mailboxes for carriers to take them to local food banks, pantries or shelters.
In Jonesboro, the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas states on their Facebook page that the national food drive will continue through Tuesday. You can also drop off donations at the food bank at 3414 One Place in Jonesboro.
Stamp Out Hunger is the nation's largest single-day food drive, and is held annually on the second Saturday in May in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam, according to the National Association of Letter Carriers.
