Fast-food restaurant coming to Brookland

BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT) -

A national fast-food chain is opening another restaurant in a Region 8 community.

A new Taco Bell is currently under construction in Brookland, just off of Highway 49.

The Taco Bell should employ around 35 people.

There will also be additional employees for the Jordan's Quick Mart Store it will be connected to.

Brookland Mayor Kenneth Jones said this is going to mean good things for the city.

“It's going to be a boost to our income as a city,” Jones said. “It's going to allow us to do more things for our citizens, speaking of paving roads, doing ditch work and sidewalks and things like that.”

A city council meeting took place Monday night, where a new Sonic was seeking approval to be built on Highway 49.

If passed, that restaurant will create around 60 jobs.

Thanksgiving is a time to be with loved ones and enjoy good food, but since that is not an option for everyone, members of the Jonesboro community came together to make sure as many people as possible were fed.
