JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police are investigating after parts of 6 air conditioning units were stolen from a Jonesboro apartment complex.
A Jonesboro Police Officer was dispatched to an apartment complex on Patrick Street Friday in reference to that theft.
An employee of the apartment owner showed the officer the units, which had been totally disassembled with the valuable parts stolen.
Several people who lived in the apartment complex informed the officer that they saw a man disassembling the units about a week prior.
Officer Kaja with JPD contacted the suspect, who was identified as 33-year-old Antonio Moore.
Several air conditioning parts were found in Moore's truck, so he was arrested.
Moore later told police that he saw 3 men taking the units apart about a week earlier and thought they were hired by the apartment complex.
He admitted that after the men left he picked up several miscellaneous parts that were left behind and put them in his truck.
Moore confirmed that the parts were not his and said that he should not have taken them, but denied any responsibility for the initial theft.
Moore is charged with two felonies for theft greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000 and criminal mischief.
His next court date is June 29.
He is being held on a $2,500 bond.
The units' estimated value is $17,500.
