BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

Police in Blytheville are searching for a wanted murder suspect after a man was shot and killed Tuesday evening.

According to Captain Scott Adams with the Blytheville Police Department, officers are searching for 20-year-old Treyon Peel.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

In a news release, Captain Adams said officers found the victim, identified as 21-year-old Raymond Smith, in a jeep near 16th Street and West Rose Street with a gunshot wound.

Smith was pulled from the jeep and given CPR until an ambulance arrived.

He was then taken to the Great River Medical Center where he later died.

Adams said witnesses came forward and told officers the shooting happened a few blocks over on Carolyn Street.

Those witnesses told officers Smith drove away from the scene and clipped a power pole, before stopping near West Rose Street.

During the investigation, Peel was identified as the shooter. Police say he ran from the scene after that shooting.

Police are asking anyone with knowledge of Peel's location to contact the Blytheville Police Department at (870) 763-4411 or call 911.
