Sheriff: woman caught on camera stealing from boss

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 woman has been charged with theft after investigators say she was caught on camera stealing from her boss.

Baxter County sheriff's deputies arrested 34-year-old Kristin N. Schlueter of Mountain Home for theft of property and breaking or entering.

She's accused of stealing $3,000 worth of merchandise from her employer, the Fancy Flea consignment store in Gassville.

The employer told investigators on May 8 he had observed on store surveillance video Schlueter "removing small gold-colored boxes from the area and placing them in a common work area in the store," the sheriff's office reported in a news release to Region 8 News.

Schlueter then reportedly placed the boxes into a larger box and handed them off to another person who carried them out of the store.

Sheriff's investigators checked local pawn shop records and found Schlueter had pawned jewelry items at two stores, the release said.

When detectives interviewed Schlueter she denied stealing the items.

But, when investigators executed a search warrant at her home they found "numerous pieces of jewelry and sales tags from her place of employment," the report said.

The victim and another vendor reportedly identified many of the items as theirs.

Schlueter is being held in lieu of $13,000 bond and has been ordered to appear in circuit court on May 28.
